Tips for Managing Acne
Some basic do’s and do not’s when it comes to acne treatment include:
• Wash the affected area gently, at least once a day, and more if possible.
• Try to use water based products which are gentle on your skin. Avoid acne treatment products that are oil based.
• Squeezing of pimples is a no-no, as it can lead to infection and scarring.
• Include vegetables, fruits, fruit juices and sprouts in your diet. Some practitioners of alternate treatment methods follow a strict diet regimen as the groundwork for rosacea treatment.
• While using non-prescription medication, use the product only after thoroughly reading the label.
• Never sleep with your make up on. Ideally, a liquid remover should be used, post which, the face should be washed with water and soap.
• Non prescription acne and anti pimple creams can be used.
• Drink large amounts of water. A large number of problems related to the skin benefit from large intakes of water.
• Exercise also has an effect on the skin. Aerobic exercises are known to increase the flow of oxygen to the cells, thereby improving the quality of the skin.
• Squeezing of acne does not come under good acne treatment. The only kind of acne that should be squeezed is the one which has a head that is made up of yellowish pus.
• Do use toothpaste on the affected area. Applying toothpaste qualifies as natural acne treatments because the swelling generally reduces overnight. The gel forms of toothpastes do not work, only the pastes do.
• For acne on the back, clothing made of cotton is best. Prickly heat powder during summers can act as a preventive measure in acne medicine for the back.
